The Board of Directors, the Executive and the membership of the Rakoczi Foundation of Canada condemns, in the strongest possible language, the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in this time of Russian aggression and are profoundly concerned for the safety and security of the citizens of Ukraine.
For over 26 years, the Foundation has been active in the support of students from Ukraine with scholarships, bursaries and a scholarship exchange program that has included “widening of the horizons of young people.” We sponsor a hot school lunch program for students in deep need in Uzhhorod (У́жгород).
We are deeply concerned for the 150,000 ethnic Hungarians who live as a minority community in western Ukraine. We are committed to continue to provide humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of Ukrainians and the refugees created by this conflict. We call upon the international community to find a peaceful solution to end this brutal war.
